Field Notes from an Extinction

Set on a skerry off the northernmost tip of Ireland, Field Notes from an Extinction is a fast paced, weird novel set in the summer of 1847, at the height of the Irish famine. An English ornithologist observing the last surviving colony of Great Awks is disturbed when a group of Irish locals strand a dying child on his outpost.

It is a novel examining migration, famine and environmental collapse, and will be published by Seven Stories later this year.

Elsa and the Wolfman

A collection of poems about the father daughter relationship. Politically angsty; trying to work out what a newborn feels, working out a dialogue with the child and the father, many of them based on a period of leave raising my youngest daughter during the covid era. Many of the poems have been published in journals and antholgies, such as Poetry Ireland, the New England Review and the London Magazine.

Due this year from Seren; here's a sample poem.
